I spent a wonderful afternoon yesterday studying and painting trees. Patty, Michelle and I sat on Patty's front porch and painted en plein air - studying the shapes of the trees and blocking in the darks and lights, and trying to catch the atmosphere and spirit of a hot, late summer afternoon.
